The photography festival Encuentros Abiertos-Festival de la Luz in Argentina has invited me to exhibit 24 photographs from my 'person/persona' portfolio series. The exhibition will take place at the Museum of Art Pompeo Boggio, in the City of Chivilcoy outside Buenos Aires at the end of the summer.
I held a panel discussion in March at the Griffin Museum of Photography, along with four people who are profiled in 'person/persona'. Jim Cooke told everyone about being a living historian and delighted the audience with interesting quotes by John Quincy Adams and Calvin Coolidge. Zehara came as Melissa and performed a lovely belly dance with one of her snakes. Alexanderia the Great came as Donna and delighted everyone with an escape involving a straight jacket and 50 feet of chains and locks. Michael came as Sister KrisTall Mighty and shared the history of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and gave everyone some interesting things to think about.
2011 was an exciting year for me as a photographer. Some of the highlights were:
A selection of images from 'Corn Dogs and Blue Ribbons' were exhibited in a group show at Panopticon Gallery in Boston.

The Cordon/Potts Gallery in San Francisco invited me to exhibit 8 photographs from Corn Dogs and Blue Ribbons.

Two sets of photographs from person/persona were accepted into the Houston Center for Photography's annual members show. The exhibit was on view in Houston from July 8 - August 21, 2011. Ariel Shanberg juried the show.

One set of photos from 'person/persona' have been accepted for a book to be published in 2012 by PPH, the Peter Hay Halpert Gallery (New York, Philadelphia, Colorado), with the title of "Identity Now".

The portfolio 'person/persona' was selected for an online gallery of emerging artists for The Texas Photographic Society by Chris Bennett, Director of Newspace Center for Photography and was on display from January through March 2011.

I am thrilled to have been an invited artist at the inaugural Flash Forward exhibition in Boston at the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel in June 2011. Because of the show I had a nice mention in the Boston Globe newspaper (page 2)
